Something strange is happening around us.
Every event — be it a crisis, a tragedy, or even a celebration — is now treated like a scene from a movie. We’re clapping for outcomes we don’t fully understand. Posting dramatic opinions before understanding the context. Sharing statuses to “take a stand” when no one even asked us to. All while convincing ourselves we’re being responsible, aware citizens.
Let’s pause for a second.
Loyalty to your country, your culture, your people — these aren’t social media checkboxes. They don’t need constant proof. They aren’t things to perform; they’re values to live — quietly, consistently. Sometimes, being informed, calm, and helpful is enough. You don’t need to shout.
But Here’s the Bigger Issue
Your child is watching.
They’re seeing you react before you think.
They’re seeing you share headlines without checking facts.
They’re seeing you celebrate without compassion, criticize without reflection.
And slowly, silently, they are learning:
That the louder you are, the more right you must be.
That opinions matter more than understanding.
That empathy is optional.
We’re not just consuming media — we’re letting it shape us. And through us, it’s shaping them.
What kind of adults will they become?
Will they think deeply before speaking?
Will they be open to learning?
Will they know how to sit with discomfort — or will they just perform their outrage for likes?
Please, Slow Down
Don’t let your child see you act without reflection.
Don’t let them grow up thinking performance is purpose.
Don’t let them inherit a world where noise replaces thought.
Let them see you pause.
Let them see you ask questions.
Let them see that you value truth over trend.
Let them grow up believing that kindness, awareness, and thoughtfulness still matter.
Because what they become tomorrow — depends entirely on how we live today.
Yours,
Concerned Fellow Human Being
